When All Else Fails in Treating Jock Itch, Try Vinegar or Rubbing Alcohol

Jock itch will normally respond to treatment and preventive measures such as topical ointments, applying cornstarch powder to keep the groin, thighs, and buttock dry, and taking other prescribed medicines.

If for some reasons the following steps didn’t work for you to get rid of that pain in the groin:

Good hygiene including regular changing of underwear;

Over-the-counter topical ointments or creams;

Cornstarch powder or all other powder variants;

Frequent trips to the doctor for prescribed medications;

Loose clothing;

Here is what you can try:

Pour vinegar over the affected area day and night;

If you loathe the smell of vinegar then try its alternative – same effects but improved smell – rubbing alcohol;

Apply rubbing alcohol liberally as you would with vinegar over the affected area (you would love to pour alcohol many time over than vinegar);

Rub alcohol on a regular basis, preferably day and night;

Use cotton pads or clean bare hands (of course you won’t reuse the pads!);

You will find that the symptoms are relieved and that the alcohol smells good and provides a soothing sensation.

You will also be wise enough to continue practicing your daily habits of good grooming, cleanliness, and good hygiene.  You will also change your underwear more often.  You will also keep your body dry especially the areas around the groin, thighs, and buttocks.  You will change clothes everyday and be wise enough not to put back used clothes in your cabinet.

Of course, you will seek the advice of your doctor when symptoms persist.  But you will also rub alcohol day and night not only when you feel like it.
