Athletes are common to have sweaty bodies since they exercise and practice a lot compared to other normal people. They are healthy but because of their normally damp skin, they may experience skin diseases. One of the common skin diseases of athletes is the jock itch. Although this is common to active people like the jocks or athletes, it can be experienced by normal people.

Jock itch is a skin disease caused by fungi that breeds in a person’s groin. The fungi are attracted to stay in areas that are moist and do not have enough air that circulates around it. Since athletes sweat a lot, they may have a bigger chance to get this kind of disease however, in general, everyone may experience and suffer from it. If a person does not let his thighs to dry, this may be an excellent breeding place for the fungi that cause jock itch.

Even if you are not an athlete, you still have to make sure that you keep your body dry so that these fungi and other harmful micro organisms do not stay in your body. Sweating a lot may be the primary cause of having jock itch but this skin disease is communicable so a person must be very careful not to have contact with people who have jock itch. Personal contact is not just the way to get this disease. Borrowing of clothing and towels may also transfer the fungi and other microorganisms from one person to another. Also, wearing of tight clothing may cause friction that can further make this disease to intensify.

Everyone, athlete or not, must be careful on keeping their bodies clean and dry to avoid jock itch and other diseases.
